Cooking for your kids is very important. You know what food you can give them and you make sure that they are eating good food or not. Promoting health is a very crucial part of motherhood.
The microwave oven has certainly made life easier, especially for households like mine where both parents work outside the home. We want our meal times to be fast and easy, while remaining healthy and affordable. Our microwave oven is one of the appliances that help us spend less time in the kitchen.
If you have your child in the kitchen, you are not just teaching them to prepare food but you are teaching them how to help you in the chores that makes your son or daughter more responsible specially in eating healthy food.
For garden parties it is a great thing to have within the safety of your yard. Kids also enjoy a change sometimes, and outdoor cooking can be a lot of fun with children (as long as all safety issues are taken care of). Some families make ‘barbecue day’ a routine as part of their family get-togethers, and friends and relatives can be called over to enjoy a fun filled evening with the aroma of freshly grilled meat wafting through the backyards.
· Remember, the food will be hot! Be careful when removing from the appliance
· Never use your microwave if the door does not close completely or there are any other defects
· If you cover the food being cooked, be sure to leave it vented so steam can come out naturally
· Don’t use any metal utensils
· Use only “microwave safe” dishes
· Follow recommended cooking times. If the time is a range (5-7 minutes for example), start with the lower time.
Always remember that teaching them to choose good food is not to pressure them. It is a long-term goal that a child can take until they grow up to choose the right food to eat and teaching them to eat right is a way of keeping them healthy.
